A clear answer.

A photo is a starting point, not a measurement. Ingredients, recipes, oils, and portion sizes may be uncertain. Open the diary entry to correct the food, amount, or nutrition. Use a package label and quantities you know whenever possible. Do not rely on Calden for medical or allergy decisions.

Check your internet connection and retry the pending capture when analysis is available. Your capture stays on your device while analysis is pending or failed. After a successful estimate, Calden keeps a separate local photo for the diary thumbnail until you delete the photo or diary entry. Incomplete results stay outside your nutrition totals. You can use manual entry in the meantime; check for duplicate entries if you later retry the photo.

Yes. You can enter and correct meals manually, reuse saved meals, and scan nutrition labels on your phone. Always check the extracted label values, units, and serving basis before saving.

No. The optional Apple Health connection adds context from workouts and active energy. It does not automatically add calories to your food target or treat activity as earning food. You control your goals.

Calden does not provide cloud diary sync or a cloud diary backup service. Your diary lives on your device, and iPhone backup behavior depends on your settings. Meal-photo thumbnails are stored separately and excluded from device backups. Do not delete the app expecting purchase restoration to recover your diary.

Your diary, goals, saved recipes, personal foods, and their photos stay on your device. If you enable photo analysis, Calden sends a resized copy of the chosen meal photo through Archolm to Google Gemini. If you use online assistance for a personal plan you request for today or tomorrow, Calden sends the selected date; your calorie and macro targets; the goal and activity-level choices saved during onboarding; focus preferences you selected; details for up to 20 recipe candidates (titles, ingredients, nutrition estimates, and prep times); and up to 14 recent plan dates and recipe IDs. This can include your saved recipes, but not their photos. A request for today may also include today’s aggregate nutrition totals and current hour. If you separately enable Health-informed plans and activity data is available, today’s request may include current and typical active-energy totals. Tomorrow’s plan omits diary totals, current hour, and Health data. Individual diary foods, the full diary, and workout details are not included. Online requests also carry limited identifiers used to verify access and protect the service.

Delete diary entries, saved meals, personal foods, or pending captures inside Calden. Deleting the app removes its local container, subject to your iPhone backup settings. Archolm cannot remotely recover or erase a diary stored only on your phone. For information held by Archolm through support or online services, email support@archolm.dk.

Calden is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Its online AI features use Google Gemini and are for adults only. Calden asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older before enabling photo analysis and before requesting an AI-generated personal plan. If you are under 18, do not use Calden's online AI features or make that confirmation. Manual logging and other on-device features remain available without online assistance.

If you have purchased Calden Plus, use iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel billing. Read Apple’s cancellation instructions. To restore eligible purchases, use Restore Purchases in Calden with the Apple Account used to buy them.
